itÆs been a couple of years since victim last released a full 12, but just like the buses you wait that long and then two come along at once. for victim, the >off piste< 12 follows hot on the heels of their split 12 with jerome hill & dont recordings. in the case of ben pest, they are coming thick and fast at the moment, with a recent release on lukes angers bonus round label, and an upcoming 12 on the seriously deranged panic bridge label. so, all in all a busy few months. as for the tracks, they all share in common a seriously weighty bottom end, and a tendency for crunchy acidic midsàbut that is kinda where the similarities end, as ben takes the opportunity to explore various avenues off the main street of techno. from the stomping acid workout of >zeedonk< to the more electro-influenced beats of >pain n gain< this is a record that covers a fair few bases (basses?), although all with the aim of thrilling a crowd that enjoys their techno on the gnarly side.

musik gewinnt freunde starts the sommer season with mgf 09, which features two young and promising producers from beautiful venice: nicola sansoni aka randomatique and kaled jabri aka kaledj, who together form cosmic cowboys. the three tracks on their dusk ep combine an airy and transcendent athmosphere with an energy that builds up chary first but then unfolds and overwhelms you. with melancholic harmonies and a whiff of dub this ep invites for (day)dreaming or loose yourself on the dancefloor. definitely a great release for deep summer nights that will catch your heart regardless of time and space. cosmic cowboys make a great extension for the mgf family and it will be worth watching out for future releases from these guys

clone v2.0! clone back in its new form.. a series of specialized series dedicated to different functionalities, emotions and styles of electronic music. the clone loft series will be releasing more traditional house and ny influenced disco for the smaller and more intimate club settings. first of reggie dokes with probably his best release so far! a-side is a dirty but massive house track that goes down very well in any house set! at first notice this might be the main track... which most likely it is for more peak-time use... but actually our favorite is the fierce i wear the mask track on the flipside. this track has a nice jumpy beat, very light... but such a balanced rhythm that it will grab one for sure. on top it has layers of strings and a bouncy bassline and very staccato keys... and everything is so well balanced, so sensitive that it really gives us goosebumps all over! it reminds even to some derrick may tracks where he managed to make his songs emotional and fragile with the same kind of timbre and hidden energy (but then less 909 orientated and such...) it has that force, that gentle force of magic that frees that inner energy, that inner power that makes you wanna dance. what a stunning track and what a strong release by mr dokes. essential!

paolo martini apparently had a taste for all things beats from an early age. he bought his first single at the age of thirteen - the classic sound of philadelphia by mf.s.b. a role model for all italian djs, paolo began servin up the tunes in the early eighties, but it was a chance meeting with dj alfredo in 1988 that really turned the tide for paolo. alfredo was then resident at amnesia in ibiza and responsible for bringing the first batch of house music over to italy. paolo embraced the genre and has never looked back, paving the way for other aspiring djs willing to follow in his footsteps. in recognition of his achievements

played by villalobos & raresh !! what a way to start off 2009, a very strong ep delivered from catwash aka chris carrier & dj w!ld with remix from lemos & kreon. groovabilisme (original) hits with its’ crafty tech-house stomp, killer kick, and fun tribal groove. a very interesting concept on this production, as the deep grounding rhythm is super floor filling, yet the space between gives it the perfect air for the huge sub that just rolls this cut to the top of the charts. a sure shot for all players. kreon’s mix stylizes with more jack then jack himself. his vox arrangements give his cut a pop, lock, and rock it knack for the true school dancer. this remix takes any spot in a set, it’s got the capability to kick it big or be slow & deep, depending on how a player wishes to pitch it- a brilliant & effective production. lemos rocks the bells a for main lead rhythm, an excellent perspective to make for a clever & diversity ep. his mix creates a driving hypnotic bender with enough thump & smack to keep the bells intact and still lead the floor into a seductive sound scape of a moving utopia.

as some of you may have already noticed, each release of mr raoul ks >peul< series features a specicific african instrument as its main sound. this time its the balafon - a kind of sticcado, which uses calabashes as resonancebodies and is often handcrafted by its player. here, the balafon is used as a rhythmic and a melodic instrument. after a long intro, the track gathers momentum and takes off for one of those long buildups. when the tension is released, in come the vocals! rising from a sparse chant to an energetic vocal that empathically pleads for unity. then you get your beats back and off goes another african-european joyride. for those of you who arent that much into vocals, a less vocalized mix is provided on the flipside. enjoy another mr raoul k special treat

probably the most outrageous promo reaction playtime has ever seen, jazz thang is what happens when you ask two producers to work together who are both just millimetres away from the bigtime. on one side you ve got andre crom s jazz thang, an - unsurprisingly - jazzy number that builds on the wonkier material he s already known for with safari electronique, leftroom, memo and sender. also on the a is gettin funky, a retro-90s house number with contemporary bass. but then on the b, you ve got riva starr s amazingly catchy and fluid re-rerub of jazz thang - which has struck a chord from the nu ravers (massive - tommie sunshine) to the commercial djs like d ramirez and even tocadisco, the ubercool underground types like karotte and marcus vector, and of course the king of wonk, claude von stroke

arnaud e mathieu is a well known figure of the parisian french house scene, hes a great dj and can play anything between deep house & techno. arno also runs his well respected label clima. i really enjoyed playing his recent release lamb of sun, on real tone. his past releases received support from great djs such as joe clausell or danny krivit. arno recently played me some of his productions demos and i really liked soil, he then did a great job in finishing it up and making it a dope club track! when playing this track to argy he really liked it and added his magic touch on final eqing! i hope you will enjoy this release as much as we do here on drh! dj deep

daniel sternberg, eightyaxt years old, born naive and innocent in berlin, has been a dj and producer since the early 90s. since then, using the artist names daniel steinberg and harry axt, he has produced numerous tracks, remixes, and a mix-cd on labels such as kiddaz.fm, front room recordings, micro.fon,, and leftroom. his debut album, planet axt, comes out on 02.03.2009 on the label of his booking agency rompecabeza. the vinyl version presents eight as of yet unreleased tracks.

leo anibaldi was born in 1972 and at the age of 15 discovers his passion for electronic music. thanks to the advent of the first computers like commodore vic 20 and 64, he begins to create his first loops. after one year leo start to play in outskints clubs under the pseudonym dj mc, when was impossibile to find in rome any trace of electronic beat. he becomes a big analogics synths collector and he decide to spend his daily life into the creation of beat groove. in 1990 leo begins his recordings career at acv records where he will make more then 20 albums like: attack random, riders of the future, noise generation, muta, cannibald and aeon. in 1991 leo meets lory d and in a small garage located in the north of rome, they start the alternative music movement universally known as the sound of rome, who spread the techno music in rome and whole italy. in those years leo is concentrated to bring his analogic live set around the world, he plays in the best techno parties like one the first love parade edition in berlin. in 1995 leo decides to cut the relation whit acv records and moves to rephlex, label of his friend aphex twin where he will make the album void. 2008. cannibald record was born, leos personal record label, and he is back with a 4 track ep. feed1 is a hypnotic techno sound, feed2 a deep, spaced out techno track and feed 3 modern minimal acid. leos older hit >attack random< got remixed by francesco pierguidi.

jim abbiss radio remix b jeuce rework. remixed radio friendly new single added to 6music b list, nme radio record of the week and receiving strong specialist support at radio 2 and xfm. their 2008 world tour continues into 2009, including an eastern european tour with depeche mode in may, which is preceded by a south american headlining tour and a co-headlining us tour with the faint. june will then see them play shows with brian eno in australia at the sydney opera house. further shows and festivals tba. their recent uk tour included a london date at shepherds bush empire. they are currently warming up for all this activity by writing songs with christina aguilera for her new album.
